What does a claim of billions of particles or a high exosome dose mean?

A total particle count in an exosome preparation does not by itself show the number of functional vesicles, purity, biological activity or a clinical dose. Instrument and thresholds, dilution, protein-to-particle ratio, markers, contaminants, batch variation and route all need disclosure.

Direct answer

  • A particle counter may not distinguish lipoproteins, aggregates or other vesicles from the intended product.
  • A count per millilitre and the total amount delivered in one session are not the same dose statement.
  • A higher number does not establish stronger human benefit or lower risk.

Measurement method changes the result

Nanoparticle tracking, resistive pulse sensing, flow cytometry and imaging count different size ranges and signals. Detection threshold, dilution, refractive index and aggregation can alter the result. A number on a label therefore cannot be compared directly with another product unless method, uncertainty and batch acceptance criteria are also available.

Identity, purity and potency are separate

The MISEV approach calls for multiple lines of evidence about positive and negative markers, particle morphology and accompanying non-vesicular components. Total protein, RNA or particle count is not a biological potency assay. A response in cell culture cannot establish clinical benefit and safety at the same nominal dose in human skin.

How to verify a clinical dose

The study product, volume, concentration, total amount, route, accompanying laser or microneedling and session interval should match the proposed use. A highest concentration or most billions comparison becomes meaningful only with the same validated method and clinical outcome. Turkish status, cold chain, batch certificate and adverse-event plan require checks independent of the number.
