Editorial general information — not a clinical-review record

Published: Updated: Publisher: Dr. Murat Toktamışoğlu

Are the HIFU indications the same for the face, neck, décolletage and body?

Regulatory status for a HIFU device on the brow, submental area or neck does not establish the same protocol for the décolletage, arm, abdomen or another body site. Tissue depth, neighbouring nerves and vessels, target depth, device instructions and outcome evidence must be checked for each area.

Direct answer

  • Authorization attaches to a model, intended use and treatment area, not to a brand in general.
  • A facial transducer or line plan cannot automatically be copied to body tissue.
  • Expert consensus is not the same level of evidence as a region-specific controlled study.

Indication is device- and area-specific

Regulatory documents define a model, target area and intended change. A broad marketing phrase such as skin tightening cannot replace those details. Brow lifting, submental laxity, décolletage lines and body contouring are not one anatomical target, and a device's status for one heading does not authorize every other use.

Why anatomy and dose change

Skin and fat thickness, fascia, bony margins, nerve paths and mobile structures vary by region. Transducer depth, line spacing and energy relate to that anatomy. Insufficient depth may limit effect, while inappropriate targeting can affect the risks of pain, burn, sensory or motor findings and unwanted volume change.

Match the evidence to the area

Check whether a publication studied the same device, area, comparable population and relevant outcome. Small consensus documents can organize practical questions but cannot prove absolute safety or superiority. The consultation should identify Turkish registration and intended use, alternatives, no treatment and area-specific warning symptoms in clear terms.
